Community Power brings national Chatty Café Scheme to the city to tackle isolation and build connection.

Hereford is set to welcome its very first Chatty Café this February. As local charity Community Power launches the nationally recognised Chatty Café Scheme in Hereford city for the first time.

From Monday 9th February, the new Chatty Café will run weekly every Monday from 10.00am to 12.00pm, at 6 St Peter’s Square, (next to Tanners Wines). Offering a warm, welcoming space where people can come together, enjoy a cuppa and, most importantly, have a chat.

The Chatty Café Scheme is a national initiative designed to reduce social isolation by creating friendly, informal spaces where conversations are encouraged. By launching the scheme in Hereford, Community Power is joining a growing movement of communities across the UK that are helping people feel more connected and less alone.

The weekly sessions, known as Chatter & Natter, are open to everyone. No booking required. People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to drop in. Whether they’re looking to make new friends, enjoy meaningful conversation, or simply spend time in a friendly, warm environment.

Christine Price, Community Power Chief Executive said:
“We are incredibly proud to be bringing the Chatty Café Scheme to Hereford. Loneliness can affect anyone, at any stage of life, and something as simple as a shared conversation can make a huge difference. This is about creating a space where everyone feels welcome, valued and connected.”

Community Power works across Herefordshire to support and strengthen local communities through a range of projects focused on health, wellbeing and social connection. Most notable is their Lee’s Place hot food hub. This operates seven evenings per week, offering free, home-cooked meals and essential supplies to people experiencing homelessness.

The launch of Hereford’s first Chatty Café marks another step in its commitment to tackling isolation and fostering a strong sense of community.

Residents are warmly invited to attend the launch on Monday 9th February and become part of what Community Power hope will be a regular, much-loved community gathering.
